Welfare Association funded many projects to preserve farmlands especially those threatened by Israeli Separation Wall. The main objective of the projects is to support farmers who have lost their land and had their crops destroyed due to erection of the Israeli Separation Wall. The projects implemented help to rahabilitate the infrastructure of the agricultural lands around the wall and to enhance public awareness in regards to preserving agricultural lands. In addition to that projects help create job opportunities, provide household food security for isolated rural families and yield saleable products for income generation.

Mr. Marwan Salim, one of the farmers who has benefited from the projects, speaking of the positive impact on his life said: “The support I received from Welfare Association came in a crucial time, especially after the strict closures by Israeli authorities when I had no other income.” Mr. Abed Alfattah Qasem also received suppot to preserve his farmland inside the Separation Wall said: “Without the support of Welfare Association, I could not stay attached to my land inside the Wall.”

Other interventions in the agricultural sector in the year 2006 included replanting 6500 dunums in Tulkarem, Qalqilya , Jenin , Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus and Tubas with 143,000 fruit trees, 53 villages benefited from the project. Fertilizers and pesticides had been provided to 11000 dunums .

Agriculture is an important part of the Palestinian economy with a substantial market value; it provides jobs not just on farms, but also in food processing and related industries. Farmland is a finite natural resource because areas with prime agricultural soils are limited.
