Palestinians displaced from Syria to Lebanon: Ahmed’s Journey

Ahmad, once a resident of the Yarmouk Camp in Syria has now settled in the Al Bus camp due to the circumstances ailing his former country of refuge. Ahmad discovered the library in the camp, became a regular visitor of the library where he made friends and participated in various activities.  ‘’Attending the activities run by the library kept us busy, we weren’t feeling lonely anymore’’ said Ahmad.

Away from Syria’s turmoil and trauma, the library provided a safe space for expression, reading and playing. It is also there that Ahmad first became acquainted with the computer and its educational functions.

The Al Bus camp is one of the camps that received a large number of Syrian Palestinians seeking refuge. The library, established in 2007, is hosted by the National Association for Vocational Training and Social Services.  Due to the high influx of Palestinian Syrian Refugees the Bus Library has placed a focus on the expressive arts to help battle any post-traumatic stress experienced by the children coming from Syria.
