Welfare Association has been named one of the thirteen finalists in the 2007 European Foundation Centre (EFC) Photo Competition “Every Picture Tells a Story’’. The first photo competition organized by the 200 members of the EFC will choose photos that illustrate, in an original and visually pleasing manner, what lies at the heart of the participating foundation’s work.

Welfare Association participated with a picture taken in Twayell village, one of 45 unrecognized Bedouin villages in Naqab in Southern Israel. The villages have been targeted by Israeli authorities for demolishing. Welfare Association funded the construction of dwelling quarters for the Bedouins. The picture was taken in December 2006 while Bedouins are trying to construct their dwelling quarters challenging Israeli government attempt to confiscate their land. It was one of 3 photos submitted by Welfare Association.

The photos will be displayed at the 2007 EFC Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Conference, to be held on 1 - 3 June 2007 in Madrid, Spain. The 13 finalists selected by a committee will be exhibited at the Conference venue, and participants will be able to discuss the meaning of each photo in the conference sessions. The winner will be announced at the closing plenary of the Conference.
