Taawon Elects Board of Trustees members for 2017-2019 Cycle

On 12 May, Taawon General Assembly held general elections for the 2017-2019 cycle. The Board of Trustees unanimously elected Mr. Faisal Alami as Chairman, in addition to, Ms. Sawsan Alfahoum Jafar as vice Chairperson, Mr. Bisher Jardaneh as vice Chairperson, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Mulla as Treasurer, and Mr. Bashar Ayyash as Secretary.

Mr. Luay Khoury was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Moreover, the Chairs of the institutional committees were also elected for the next three years.

As for the General Assembly, Mr. Tayseer Barakat was elected Chairman with Mr. Saleh Jallad as Vice-Chairman.

Prior to the elections, Taawon held its periodic institutional meetings in the presence of a large number of General Assembly members including Board of Trustees Chairman Mr. Faisal Alami, Chairperson of the Board of Directors Ms. Sawsan Alfahoum Jafar, and Taawon Director General Dr. Tafeeda Jarbawi.

These meetings included the General Assembly, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and the following institutional committees: Strategy and Governance, Resource Development, Media, Membership, Programs and Projects, Audit and Compliance, Youth Engagement, Award, Investment, and the Palestinian Museum.
Taawon reviewed the performance of the ending cycle of the Board of Trustees (2014-2017), which was characterized by achievements in terms of programmatic and institutional performance, with a clear developments in programs, strategic directions, and organizational structure. Taawon invested USD 150 million in the expansion of its seven core programs, and succeeded in attracting over USD 123 million from donors.

Taawon recently launched its new strategic plan for 2017-2019 under the theme of “3Is on the future … Invest, Inspire, Innovate” with a budget of US $ 141 million distributed among Taawon’s seven major programs; Education, Culture, Community Development, Youth Empowerment, Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program, and the Palestinian Museum.
