Specialized course on “Conservation and Management of the Built Heritage” in Nazareth

The Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP)/Taawon in partnership with the Arab Culture Association have completed a core course titled “The Conservation and Management of the Built Heritage in Nazareth” with funding from the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development. The course was held between 2nd of October 2017  - 9th of January 2018.

Six international and local experts participated in the training by tackling various subjects in the field of cultural heritage conservation and the course have included theoretical lectures & applied training. The course have included 16 participant from various educational background (architects, engineer, restorer, artist and others) from Nazareth and the surrounding areas.

During the course, the trainees prepared a conservation plan for Khan Al Basha historical building as a case study. They applied all what they learned to prepare an comprehensive file on how to safegaurd the building the file included  a full architectural documentation  in addition to  historical, physical and structural analysis. In addition to, determining the state of conservation for the building in both short and long term and suggestions for the future use of the building.
