Dr. Kuttab resigns his post as Director General of Welfare Association
to lead SAANED for Philanthropy Advisory in the Arab Region

The Welfare Association (WA) Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Dr. Atallah Kuttab, its Director-General, effective 31 July 2011. The Board has also approved the appointment of Dr. Tafeeda Jarbawi as the new Director General. Dr. Jarbawi currently serves as Deputy Director General.

 “We are grateful to all the work Dr. Kuttab has given to WA. In his tenure, WA has gone from strength to strength in focusing its programs thus creating more impact, diversifying its funding base, and building the needed human resources and supporting policies and systems,” said Dr. Nabil Qaddumi, the chairman of the WA Board of Trustees.

Dr. Kuttab will lead SAANED for philanthropy advisory in the Arab region as of September 2011.  

“It has been a privilege to have led the efforts of the executive body of the WA which achieved positive changes in the life of Palestinians, enhanced WA efficiency and effectiveness, and linked WA to Arab and global foundations networks,” said Dr. Kuttab who joined WA in 2005. “Now, I want to focus my efforts on expanding the infrastructure of philanthropy in the Arab region, and I believe SAANED provides me with the opportunity to do so”, he added.

Dr. Marwan Al Sayeh, Chairman of the Management Committee said “Dr. Kuttab has given a great service to the foundations sector in the Arab region by setting up the Arab Foundations Forum (AFF), which was incubated within WA. AFF, the first Arab foundations network, aims to promote Palestinian and Arab philanthropy”

WA Board of Trustees wished Dr. Kuttab the best of luck in his future endeavors.
