A 200,000 US Dollars Grant from Welfare Association to Qalqilya Civil Society

With funding from generous philanthropists, Welfare Association signed grant agreements with a total value of 200,000 USD with two well established Qalqilya-based organizations: Dar El Iman Society for the Care of Orphans, and Al Amal Charitable Society for the Deaf.

Dar El Eman Society for the Care of Orphans has provided since its establishment in 2000 a broad package of social services to more than 350 orphans from both sexes in Qalqilya. Through the 100,000 USD Welfare Association grant, the Society will complete the building, furnishing, and equipping of the 600 square meter boarding section; purchase a minibus to transport children back and forth to school; support vocational training programs costs; and; provide seed money for revolving loan fund that will support orphans in starting up their own businesses. Around 200 orphan children will directly benefit from the project.

Al Amal Charitable Society for the Deaf was established in 1994 and has served since then more than 1,800 deaf children. Through the 100,000 USD Welfare Association grant, the Society will cover the running expenses of its Vocational Training Center for the coming two years. Around 160 deaf children will benefit from the project though being subjected to vocational training programs in the areas of carpentry, aluminum fabrication, and sewing.
